2026 International Conference on Intelligent Design and Computing (IC-IDC 2026)

 wrapped up successfully in Wuhan!



From May 15 to 17, 2026, the 2026 International Conference on Intelligent Design and Computing (IC-IDC 2026) was grandly convened in Wuhan, China. Sponsored by Hubei University of Technology and organized by its School of Arts & Design, School of Digital Art Industry, School of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence, School of Big Data and Artificial Intelligence Industry, and Hubei Design and Research Center of Cultural and Creative Industry, the conference received support from leading institutions including Zhejiang University, University of Science and Technology Beijing, Soochow University, Macau University of Science and Technology, Pusan National University, Asia Design Week, and AEIC Academic Exchange Information Center, among others.

On the morning of May 16, the conference officially commenced. Prof. Rao Jian, General Chair of the conference and Dean of the School of Arts & Design / School of Digital Art Industry at Hubei University of Technology, presided over the opening ceremony and delivered the opening address. He extended a warm welcome to all leaders, experts, scholars, and students present, and expressed sincere gratitude to all organizing, hosting, and supporting institutions.
Prof. Rao noted that artificial intelligence, big data, virtual reality, intelligent manufacturing, and digital creativity are profoundly transforming the organizational paradigms of design research, industrial innovation, and social life. Intelligent design is gradually becoming a vital force driving product innovation, service innovation, urban renewal, and cultural dissemination, while computing technologies are playing an increasingly critical role in design thinking, interactive experience, knowledge generation, and industrial synergy.
He emphasized that Hubei University of Technology has long been committed to interdisciplinary integration and university-industry collaboration. This conference aims to provide a high-level cross-disciplinary exchange platform for scholars from home and abroad.

Subsequently, the conference transitioned to the keynote session. The first half of the morning program was chaired by Prof. Rao Jian, with three distinguished speakers delivering their presentations.

On the afternoon of May 16, the conference hosted a Young Researchers Session themed "Artificial Intelligence and Generative Design." Ten young scholars from Shenyang Aerospace University, Hubei University of Technology, Zhejiang Normal University, Beijing Institute of Technology, Xi'an Polytechnic University, Jiaxing University, and the New Academy of Fine Arts delivered outstanding academic presentations on cutting-edge topics in intelligent design and generative AI, demonstrating solid research competence and innovative potential.

Subsequently, a PhD Session was held. Six doctoral candidates and PhD holders from City University of Macau, Hanyang University (Korea), Jiangnan University, Wuhan University of Technology, and Hubei University of Technology presented their latest research findings in intelligent design and computing.

During the conference, an award ceremony was also held. Following rigorous review by the organizing committee experts, the Outstanding Young Researcher Award was presented to recognize young scholars with exceptional academic innovation. The successful conclusion of IC-IDC 2026 not only built a high-quality interdisciplinary exchange platform for scholars in the field of intelligent design and computing, but also further advanced the deep integration of design and computing, art and engineering, academic research and industrial practice.
